What ADHD medicine does your child take?

I have a five year old son that has adhd and we tried him on Aderall 10mg and he was so depressed and was chewing his fingers raw. We stopped his medicine and are looking for advice on a new medicine to try. I have a dr's appt next week and my dr told me to ask around and check out different medicines. So what does you child take and what mg? What have tried and it has had bad results. My son is very hyper and impulsive and loud any advice would be so aprreciated....thanks
