Naming the characters in my book?

How about Crimson+shadow=crimsonshadow>possible book name or Scarlet & mystic. or lurid meaning red also for red magenta/maroon-was thinking maroona for the character name. for the shy character maybe jet turned into jeta or some other female adaptation onyx could be turned into sonyx or just onyx. =)
