Is my tarantula trying to bite me?

i have recently bought a chilean rose tarantula, i have held it in my hand but i went to go in the viv to pick him up, when i usually go to pick him up i touch his back leg (gently) and it just moves forward a bit but this time he turned around and tryed to get on my. i got a bit startled and pulled my hand away. i got a pen and it done the same to the pen but this time i let him get on it he pulled his fangs out and tryed to bite the pen, does this meen he wants to bite me or is he still hungry?
